Abd al-Rahman ibn Muhammad ibn Khaldun (May 27, 1332 AD/732 AH – March 19, 1406 AD/808 AH) was an Arab famous Muslim polymath: an historian, historiographer, demographer, economist, philosopher, political theorist, sociologist and statesman whose treatise, the "Muqaddima", in which he pioneered a general sociological theory of history, shows him as one of the most original thinkers of the Middle Ages.
