Jimmy mattingly fiddle player for garth brooks

Jimmy Mattingly grew up on a farm just North of Leitchfield, Kentucky and was influenced by his Dad, Edward Mattingly who was a fiddle player, and a musical family that went back generations.

Every weekend was a jam session around the Mattingly household. At the age of 9 Jimmy began sneaking his Dad’s fiddle out of the case after school, with the help of his Mom, Sue Mattingly. He wanted to see what he could figure out on this instrument his Dad played frequently.

He would ask his Dad to play for him and he soaked up some things to try the following day. After a couple of Months of this, Jimmy’s Mom told his Dad he might want to listen to Jimmy play the fiddle. Much to Ed’s Surprise Jimmy had figured quite a bit out.
